1 Assault Rifle

The Assault Rifle is designed to offer all the benefits of a full-length rifle in a compact design. It is capable of firing fully automatic fire and able to take down opponents quickly and effectively. This is the standard weapon issued to EDF soldiers.

Primary Attack: Automatic Fire
Melee Attack: Sideways Bash
Pros: Large clip size, fast reloads
Cons: Low level vehicle damage

Recommendation: Use this as your standard kill-all weaponry. Aim for the torso and head for maximum damage.

2 Enforcer

The Enforcer uses heat-seeking ammo for superior accuracy. Shoot in the general direction of an enemy and the bullets will find them. The trade-off is in decreased damage, since some of the power behind the bullet is lost while it adjusts course.

Primary Attack: Automatic Fire
Melee Attack: Sideways Bash
Pros: Heat-seeking projectile that maneuvers in air towards a target.
Cons: Damage dealt is less than the standard Assault Rifle.

Recommendation: Got a few pesky enemies trying to run away from you? Fire a few bullets in their general direction and let the bullets get tired instead of you.

3 Rocket Launcher

The Red Faction have modified this equipment to launch rocket-propelled grenades. It’ll be useful against vehicles, tanks, aircraft, and the occasional building. Just make sure there’s plenty of distance between you and your target when you pull the trigger.

Primary Attack: Fire rocket
Melee Attack: Upward bash
Pros: Large amount of destruction for a quick reloading weapon
Cons: Slow moving projectile

Recommendation: Get a few enemies to run into a building and then blow it to smithereens. Extremely effective against small to medium sized structures and vehicles.

4 Thermobaric Rocket

The has been vastly improved with the Thermobaric Rocket Launcher. The range is decreased, but you can detonate the rockets in mid-air and the explosion is huge. It should help bring down large targets with ease. You can read more about the science behind this powerful weapon .

Primary Attack: Fire rocket
Special Attack: Detonate in mid-air
Pros: Huge amount of destruction
Cons: Very slow reloads

Recommendation: Aim this at anything and wave goodbye, but make sure not to stand too close. This weapon can also change the tide of a Multiplayer match in a few seconds.

5 Grinder

The Grinder fires razor discs at high velocity. Another weapon created by the Red Faction from salvaged parts, the motor needs to charge briefly before it’ll shoot, so take that into account. The disks are deadly against EDF soldiers or individual combatants in multiplayer, but won’t cause much damage to structures, vehicles, or objects.

Primary Attack: Hold to rev up a razor disc.
Melee Attack: Upward Bash.
Pros: One-shot kills to the head, great at short to medium range.
Cons: Slow fire rate, due to the required time to rev the blades up to speed.

Recommendation: An enemy is charging towards you with an Assault Rifle or similar weapon, and you need to take them down quickly. Pull out the Grinder, aim for the head, and hope the time you have to get off one precise shot is enough. The Grinder is equally effective at knocking jet-packing enemies out of the air.

6 Pistol

Pistols are the basic EDF sidearm. They’re small and accurate, though only against a single target. Pistols don’t have the stopping power of some of the heavier EDF weapons, but they’ll still do the job. Look for this weapon in multiplayer as a quick secondary attack weapon.

Primary Attack: Fire single round.
Melee Attack: Pistol Whip.
Pros: Fast refire.
Cons: One of the weakest weapons in terms of firepower.

Recommendation: Kill enemies from close range, taking care to aim for the head. A few well placed shots can help you to grab a more powerful weapon. Combine with the Firepower backpack in Multiplayer for a very effective combination.

7 Remote Charge

Remote Charges will stick to any surface and are great for setting traps. You can set multiple charges and they’ll explode in the order placed once you hit the detonator. Don’t forget where each one was placed, because standing near one when it goes off will end your fun real quick! Try attaching these to multiple stress points for larger amounts of destruction.

Primary Attack: Throw charge
Secondary Attack: Detonate charge
Pros: Large amount of destruction for a handheld device.
Cons: Charges must be attached to an object before they can be detonated.

Recommendation: These allow a player to destroy single or multiple objects at the same time, as well as set some devious traps. Remember to try sticking a few of these to your friends in Multiplayer for a few laughs. If you happen to run out of charges, you will access a new melee attack in the form of a punch.

8 Proximity Mine

Sticking a Remote Charge on enemies or vehicles can be difficult, so the guerrillas have rigged up some Proximity Mines for you. These are more sensitive, so they’ll have to be placed directly on the ground. Be careful where you place them, the proximity sensor has a hard time judging friends and foes.

Primary Attack: Place charge
Secondary Attack: Mine swing
Pros: Large blast radius
Cons: Must be placed precisely and well hidden – if the enemy spots them, they can be blown up with a few bullets.

Recommendation: Set these around doorways of buildings, or openings in walls. Try placing a few around the control points in Damage Control as a nice surprise to the opposing team. Also, these are great for setting traps as you draw your enemies toward you during a firefight.

9 Sledgehammer

This is your best friend. The sledgehammer is a versatile, non-threatening weapon that can smash through just about anything - and no ammo needed. Its silent, powerful attack makes it ideal for thinning EDF ranks without raising the alarm.

Primary Attack: Sideways swing
Secondary Attack: Overhead swing
Pros: You have a sledgehammer, they have guns…
Cons: You have a sledgehammer, they have guns…

Recommendation: The EDF doesn’t react immediately when you have this weapon out, so it can be used for silent (albeit messy) kills. Need a backdoor for an escape? Make a new one…

10 Arc Welder

The Arc Welder is useful in taking out enemies at short range. It lets out an electrical burst that can jump to multiple targets, stunning them and eventually killing them. It’ll also electrocute anyone inside a vehicle, which makes attacks on convoys a lot easier. You’ll have to be close to use this.

Primary Attack: Fire continuous electric arc(s).
Secondary Attack: Upward bash.
Pros: Will attack a driver inside of a vehicle, making for easy extraction.
Cons: Short range, no destruction from arc(s).

Recommendation: Use this to clear a room out quickly of enemies or attack any enemies in your path. Combine with a Jetpack in Multiplayer for a true show of fireworks in the sky and a deadly attack from above.

11 Sniper Rifle

If you need to kill someone at long range, the EDF’s Sniper Rifle will get the job done. With increased zoom on the sights, you can stay farther back while still shooting accurately. The drones deploy a deadly cadre of snipers, so be careful.

Primary Attack: Single shot.
Special Function: Optical zoom.
Pros: Long range, high physical damage.
Cons: Slow re-fire rate, small clip size.

Recommendation: Find a nice hiding place on an elevated mound and observe the horizon for prey. Best used from long range to take out any patrolling guards before storming in to complete a mission.

12 Gauss Rifle

This is a portable version of the EDF’s lethal Gauss Turret. It fires magnetic projectiles at high speeds using a network of electromagnetic coils. Suffice to say, there’s a lot of heady science involved. The part you need to be worried about is that it fires quickly and efficiently. This baby has enough power to blow a hole through a wall, so keep your head down.

Primary Attack: Fire projectile.
Special Function: Sideways bash.
Pros: Very effective at long range, automatic fire.
Cons: Destruction ability is limited.

Recommendation: When an approaching group of enemies is barreling down on your position, pull out this rifle and take them out one by one utilizing the automatic fire.

13 Peacekeeper

When the EDF wants to keep you at bay, They'll break out this state-of-the-art automatic shotgun. Used primarily for crowd control by Elite EDF troops, the Peacekeeper is devastating at close range. Never, ever charge headfirst against a drone wielding this weapon.

Primary Attack: Fire shell (Hold for auto-fire).
Melee Attack: Sideways bash.
Pros: High amount of close-range damage, automatic fire.
Cons: Ineffective at long range.

Recommendation: Use this to take out a group of EDF soldiers at close range, specifically when trying to clear out a room.

14 Reconstructor

A weapon used specifically in multiplayer, the Reconstructor is a very powerful addition to your arsenal. Simply aim this weapon at any damaged structure, and the Reconstructor sets to work on rearranging the matter back to the original shape. Any structure in multiplayer that is destroyed can be rebuilt, but be aware of enemies sneaking up on you. The Reconstructor can be used as an offensive weapon in a pinch, but it’s best to use it with a buddy covering your back.

Primary Attack: Fire reconstructive beam.
Melee Attack: Upward bash.
Pros: Can reconstruct any man-made structure.
Cons: Short range, low attack power.

Recommendation: During Damage Control, use this tool to built up the containment walls around each control point. Very useful for recreating walls that may have been blasted apart.

15 Singularity Bomb

This is the most frightening thing you’ll ever see. The Singularity Bomb creates a small gravity well that sucks up anything around it—including buildings. After a few seconds, it explodes and sends all that debris flying. If you use one, set it down and run like hell!

Primary Attack: Place bomb on ground.
Melee Attack: Two-handed bash.
Pros: Heavy destruction ability to structures.
Cons: Slow placement, can be sucked into the vacuum created.

Recommendation: Need to take out an EDF target quickly and effectively? Drop a few of these around the building and run away – fast. If you get caught in the blast, prepare yourself for the ride of a lifetime (literally).

16 Nano Rifle

The nanites created by the Nano Forge will deconstruct solid matter, like a wall, in seconds. The technology is highly advanced and the EDF wants it, so keep it safe.

Primary Attack: Fire projectile.
Melee Attack: Sideways bash.
Pros: Vaporization of a target.
Cons: Small clip size
Recommendation: Create a new entranceway into a building or take out a vehicle. Also, hit any enemy with a well placed shot to obliterate them.

17 Rail Driver

This weapon is what the EDF uses to fight dirty. With X-Ray sights you can see targets through obstacles, and the power of the gun itself allows you to shoot straight through to those targets. There’s no such thing as “cover” with this.

Primary Attack: Single shot.
Special Function: Zoom with thermal vision.
Pros: Projectile can pass through multiple walls and people.
Cons: Slow re-fire rate.
Recommendation: An enemy is taking cover behind a wall of a structure, but you need to take them out. Pull out your rail driver, engage the enhanced thermal vision, and they’ll never know (or see) what hit them.
We may also have a sneak peek of this weapon in a video due out soon.

18 Shotgun

Utilized by the reclusive Marauders, the shotgun is based upon an old design, the likes of which have not been seen since the end of Ultor's occupation. Although outdated, it still packs a significant punch at short-range. The home-made bayonet also makes it a formidable threat in close quarters.

Primary Attack: Fire shell.
Melee Attack: Sideways slash.
Pros: Very powerful at close range.
Cons: Slow reload time.
Recommendation: Try to use this weapon only in close quarters combat, otherwise the shot will spread out too much and become ineffective.

19 Gutter

Developed by the reclusive Marauders, the name says it all. A brutal weapon, its design is reflective of its creators: violent and gruesome. The Marauders have developed a unique fighting style for using it, to compensate for the Gutter’s size and balance.

Primary Attack: Undercut / Overhead Slash.
Melee Attack: Roundhouse Slash.
Pros: Longer reach than Sledgehammer
Cons: Slower than the sledgehammer
Recommendation: In close quarters combat, this weapon can become your best friend. With its extended reach and slicing capabilities, the Gutter is a weapon you’ll want to steal from the Marauders as soon as you can.

20 Rhino and Thrust Backpacks

Your enemies may have taken cover inside a building, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get to them. The Rhino pack turns you into an unstoppable force. No structure is safe when using the Rhino pack. Surprise your enemies by barreling through the wall they’re using for cover. You will also be invulnerable while performing a Rhino charge, so use it wisely when in a firefight.

Thrust works similar to the Rhino, but in a different axis. This pack allows you to ascend or descend with destructive velocity. Enemies above and below are no longer safe when the Thrust pack is in play. Ascend with the usual activation button or descend by holding jump followed by the activation button. Just like the Rhino, you will be invulnerable while using the Thrust backpack.

21 Concussion and Tremor Backpacks

Like the old saying goes, sometimes the best offense is a good defense. The Concussion pack sends out a concussive wave around you, knocking down nearby enemies. The best counter for an enemy charging with a Fleetfoot is a well-timed Concussion blast.

Another helpful way to keep enemies at bay is the Tremor pack. Activating the Tremor causes the area around the player to shake violently. Structures will be damaged and the intense shaking will disorient nearby enemies. Use the Tremor pack to quickly level the playing field—literally.

22 Stealth and Vision Backpacks

To succeed, you’ll need two things: Teamwork, and the ability to quickly assess the battlefield. The Stealth pack makes you nearly invisible to enemies. Use it to sneak within striking distance of them, but be warned that attacking will deactivate your cloaking shield.

It’s not as simple as it sounds though: Stealth can be countered with the Vision pack. The Vision pack will give you X-Ray vision, allowing you to see enemies through any structure. With the Vision pack, no one can hide from you.

23 Jetpack and Fleetfoot Backpacks

If you want to win, you’ll need to be able to get around the world quickly and efficiently. The Jetpack allows you to get airborne and attack your enemies from above. Try using the jetpack with remote charges to rain death on the opposing team or alongside the Arc Welder for a shock from above.

If air travel isn’t your thing, there’s always the Fleetfoot. The Fleetfoot pack gives you a temporary speed boost, which is helpful when using a sledgehammer or shotgun. Increased speed will allow you to close the distance on an enemy quickly for a bloody kill, or run away from a fire fight while you still have some health.
